Laity Day with the Bishop, long planned for October 8, has been postponed and will be rescheduled for April 2023.
The Board of Laity’s decision was prompted by Bishop Laurie’s suggestion that such a change would allow our newly assigned Bishop to use that event to begin to become acquainted with the Laity of the Conference.
“Although we are sad not to have another Laity Day with Bishop Laurie, we are respectful of her thinking. We will also find other occasions to express our thanks and good wishes as she moves to retirement,” said Margaret Borgen, Iowa Lay Leader.
Laity Day has traditionally been a spring, even so, this adjustment marks a return to that practice. The fall plans this year resulted from Covid cancellations and delays.
After vetting, the new date and location will be announced in the next few weeks.
