Methodists, get ready!  Roosevelt André Credit is a force of God’s love and exuberance and he is coming to bless us in concert at Saturday, Feb. 11, 4:00 pm at First United Methodist in Des Moines, 1001 Pleasant St.  “Roo”, a friend of First Church’s music director Ben Allaway for over 30 years, will also bring his inspiring, high-energy gifts and talents to leading worship Sunday the 12th at 10:30 a.m.  You will surely know you have worshipped God by the end of the service!

A veteran of Broadway productions of SHOWBOAT, THE GERSHWINS’ PORGY AND BESS, and the recent Metropolitan Opera production of PORGY AND BESS, “Roo” also sang throughout the soundtrack of the Best Film Oscar-winning TWELVE YEARS A SLAVE, which also used an original song of his. His Lapelle Choir backed him up recently at OUTDOORS AT LINCOLN CENTER.

“LIFT EVERY VOICE IN LOVE” will celebrate the broad range of the African-American musical legacy with a touch of love on Valentines weekend.  Roo will be joined by his accompanist Margaret Katherine Jellison of Bangor, Maine, Minneapolis-based violinist Lara MacLean, the new First Church Gospel Choir, which includes our Choir plus members of the community, and The House Wide Open Band.

This is a Family- and Senior-Friendly event. Group seating is available!  Register below.

Co-Sponsored by Music Under the Dome and The Thresholds Music Project, Inc., Ben’s non-profit arts and education organization, admission is free and a Love Offering will be received.
