⊳  *NEW* Parking: $10 per vehicle

You may park in the North lot of the Iowa Event Center as normal, however the Iowa Event Center charges $10 each without re-entry. If you pay $10 to park and then leave in your car and come back to park, it will cost $10 again. To help accommodate we are offering shuttle services to/from the Court Avenue Restaurant District during meal breaks

  • Parking is available north of the Iowa Events Center with entrances off of 3rd Street, 5th Avenue, and Crocker Street.

In past years the Annual Conference funded the purchase of 437 parking spots during Annual Conference Session. We are the only event held at the Iowa Event Center that does this for their attendees. In a continued effort to be good stewards of apportionment dollars and resources, the Annual Conference will not be leasing out these parking spaces, saving the Conference approximately $19,000.

CLERGY INSTRUCTION OF ORDERING SERVICE

As we do each year, we are inviting all clergy to help in the celebration of those colleagues who are entering into a new phase of ministry.  We ask that you robe and participate in the opening procession of this year’s Ordering Service on Sunday, June 7th at 3:00 PM.

  • Please wear a robe or alb for the Ordering of Ministry Service. Stoles, scapular, etc. should be RED. There will be coat racks for you to use for hanging garment bags.
  • Please gather in robes/albs no later than 2:30 PM.
  • At 2:45 PM, those seated on the south side of the hall will line at the far end of the lobby behind designated leaders with signs.  Those seated on the north side of the hall will line up at the near end of the lobby behind designated leaders with signs.
  • On cue, please process forward by the side aisles.  When you come to the front tables, please walk to any empty seat in the hall and remain standing.  NOTE:  the only reserved seats are those in front for the honorees.

As a reminder, the Conference/Iowa Events Center is not responsible for your belongings. Every effort will be made to ensure garment bags are not taken, but please keep any/all valuables with you at all times. PLEASE make sure to take your robe/garment bag with you when you leave the Events Center.

SEATING

In 2019, we introduced Open Seating within districts in an effort to give attendees more choice in how they experience Annual Conference and to increase efficiency with Session planning.  We found this to be a great success overall and will continue it for 2020.

BACK TO TOP / OTHER

LAYOUT

Two major changes you will notice:
1) We are flipping the room 90 degrees so that the stage is against the South wall.
2) The exhibit/vendor booths and concessions will be in the same hall as plenary  (Halls B & C) separated by curtains.

In past years the concessions and booths were in a separate room, Hall A.  By combining the spaces we are reducing our overall footprint and eliminating the rental of Hall A, subsequently lowering the facility rental cost.
